Sermon about David Brainerd

The purpose of this blog is to explore the truths of genuine faith using the Book of James and the life of David Brainerd.  We are going to attempt to recreate The Diary and Life of David Brainerd that is an autobiography written by Jonathan Edwards, which was based on David’s journals. We are going to write on how to live a Christian life today, through the eyes of David Brainerd. Using his life examples and the book of James, we will interpret what it means to have genuine faith. We decided to embark on this path because living a genuine life, like David Brainerd’s, should be timeless. To complement the writing, we will post a visual image for each journal entry in order to fully portray the theme or message. We hope you enjoy this and please feel free to comment.

Quotes to think about

“First, Resolve upon, and daily endeavour to practise, a life of seriousness and strict sobriety.”

“Further, Take heed that you faithfully perform the business you have to do in the world, from a regard to the commands of God; and not from an ambitious desire of being esteemed better than others.”

“Once more, Never think that you can live for God by your own power or strength; but always look to and rely on him for assistance, for all strength and grace.”
